Sleepytime Extra Wellness Tea Review

I've been sipping Sleepytime Extra Wellness Tea . recommended for adults only, from Celestial Seasonings.

Does it help you fall to sleep?

The tea contains valerian. a non-prescription sleep aid that's been around for centuries. Valerian has mild sedative properties, so you probably shouldn't do something that requires concentration (like driving!) until you know how the tea will affect you.

That said, I doubt many people will have trouble with being very drowsy after drinking Sleepytime Extra. It's not that kind of tea. (The box does say not to drive or operate machinery after consuming the tea.)

The effect I feel after drinking Sleepytime Extra is one of relaxation, sort of a preparation for sleep. It's a soothing tea to drink around bedtime, but if you have an espresso or eat an entire chocolate bar before bed, don't expect this tea to overpower those treats. Again, this is a gentle tea, not some kind of monster sleep drug that knocks you out and gives you weird side effects like driving while asleep! Obviously, this tea is caffeine free. It's also free of gluten, but not recommended if you have allergies to the daisy family, as you may be sensitive to chamomile.

I found that Sleepytime Extra has a wonderful taste. In addition to the valerian root, the tea contains the flowers chamomile (600mg) and tilia estrella (160mg). If you're a chamomile-hater like my husband, go ahead and give this tea a try anyway. I think the blend is great. In addition to the ingredients mentioned above, the tea contains spearmint, lemongrass, hawthorn and orange blossoms.

Disclosure. I received some free tea products for review from Celestial Seasonings.
